Galloway & Lyndall awarded prestigious Ogden Doremus Award for Excellence in Environmental Law by GreenLaw
Law firm to be recognized for work at the Georgia Public Service Commission

Terri Lyndall and Newton Galloway, Galloway & LyndallAtlanta, GA– Law Partners, Newton Galloway and Terry Lyndall, with Galloway & Lyndall, LLC, will be receiving the Ogden Doremus Award for Excellence in Environmental Law on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at GreenLaw’s annual Environmental Heroes event.

Galloway & Lyndall, LLP is a small, general practice law firm located in the southern crescent of metropolitan Atlanta area. The firm’s practice is concentrated in the areas of utility regulation law, zoning and development law, local government law and general commercial litigation. The firm’s utility regulation practice is conducted primarily before the Georgia Public Service Commission, covering all services within its statutory jurisdiction – telecommunications, natural gas, electricity and facilities protection. Their most notable work has been on behalf of the Georgia Chapter of the Solar Energy Industries Association and a broader coalition of environmental groups and non-profits interested in promoting the clean energy, most notably the incredible progress on solar.

Working alongside the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC), Galloway & Lyndall have presented compelling arguments to move what was a very heavy portfolio of coal-burning plants to implement over 750 MW of solar in the past three years with co-operation of Georgia Power, the state’s only public electric utility.

Stephanie Stuckey Benfield, Executive Director of GreenLaw said, “Between the collaborative work of the Georgia PSC, concerned environmental groups, Georgia Power and solar industry advocates, Georgia has become a national leader for deploying solar to the grid. Newton and Terry have been a vital component of that success. Their navigation of the intricacies of regulations and political nuances has been invaluable to the clean energy trajectory in Georgia. Many times people think of legal work as trials. Galloway & Lyndall have shown how lawyers play a very important part in the regulatory sphere too.”

Other honorees are:  Environmental Hero - April Ingle, outgoing Executive Director of the Georgia River Network and Lifetime Achievement Award - Tally Sweat, Garden Clubs of Georgia Board Member and Founding Member of Park Pride.

Each of the winners has shaped Georgia’s future from water protection to land enhancement to solar advancement.
