Laura Shamp joins GreenLaw’s Board

Laura Shamp, Laura Shamp LLCAtlanta, GA –  GreenLaw is honored to have Laura Shamp join the Board of Directors.

“We are excited to have Laura on the board,” stated  Stephanie Stuckey Benfield, Executive Director of GreenLaw. “We are always looking for more opportunities to bring new benefactors of our work. Laura’s passion for seeking justice for every day citizens through the court system aligns well with our mission to give Georgia’s environment its day in court.”

Ms. Shamp is a trial lawyer practicing principally in the areas of medical negligence, complex business litigation and catastrophic injury in both state and federal court.  Laura specializes in representing the plaintiff in these disputes.

She graduated with honors in 1988 from the Harvard Law School and thereafter clerked for the Honorable Robert H. Hall at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.  In 2004 Ms. Shamp went back to Harvard and received her Masters degree in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Prior to starting her own firm, she was Counsel at Doffermyre, Shields, Canfield, Knowles & Devine where she practiced for four years doing plaintiffs and general civil litigation work.  Before joining Doffermyre Shields, Ms. Shamp practiced at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan in their general litigation department.

Over the past 20 years, Ms. Shamp has handled all types of major litigation including wrongful death, severe injury cases, product liability cases, employment discrimination cases, consumer class action cases and many others in federal and state courts in Georgia and North Carolina.  Laura has been an invited speaker at seminars on litigation practice, product liability, medical negligence, and tort reform and has published articles on the use of expert witness testimony and product liability law.  Laura has consistently been named one of Atlanta’s “Super Lawyers”.
