1st Letter to Glynn County Islands Planning Commission from GreenLaw
First letter submitted by GreenLaw Attorney Steve Caley to the Glynn County Islands Commission
Dear Commissioners and Mr. Hainley:
For your consideration, please find our letter comments filed on behalf of the Altamaha Riverkeeper and the Center for a Sustainable Coast opposing Sea Island Acquisitions’ application for approval of Preliminary Plat 2713 with respect to the spit at the southern end of Sea Island.
I am also attaching copies of photographs which, by reference number, show the following:
8104 – an aerial view of the entire spit
8333 – an aerial view of the proposed platted area of the spit showing that it is extremely narrow and surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Gould’s Inlet on the other side
8347 – the tidal reach near the condominiums at 50 Dune Avenue/Lane in the area where the proposed extension of Dune Avenue/Lane would take place
8348 – the tidal reach near the condominiums at 10 Dune Avenue/Lane in the area where Dune Avenue/Lane would be built around the condominium complex adjacent to the proposed plat demonstrating that the road would have to be built in marsh and wetlands
8378 – an aerial view showing that proposed Lot 8 is completely or very close to completely surrounded by marsh wetlands
9992 – an aerial view of the area proposed for Lot 3 showing the narrowness and fragility of the proposed plat (with the marsh on one side and the ocean on the other)
8946 – Lot 3 with very little elevation making it extremely prone to flooding or complete destruction
8949 – Lots 2 and 3 with very little elevation making them extremely prone to flooding or complete destruction.
As I do not have an e-mail address for Commissioner Dow and anticipate that my e-mail to Commissioner Ussery will be rejected as spam, I am requesting Mr. Hainley to extend the courtesy of providing a copy of this e-mail and its attachments to Commissioners Dow and Ussery.
